Cancer Kids - their stories.

DTP - Desktop Publishing - Prepress! All of us prefer to use or play with the most interesting software rather than learn the tedious underlying technicalities. I have heard the following statement expelled by Designers and Desktop Artists several times in my career..."I can get my page on the @&!%# screen, why can't you output it ?".

As if it is always someone else's fault, all people have to do is swallow a little pride and learn why millions of dollars are wasted every year because... "to create a page or image is one thing, to create a page or image correctly and methodically for predictable output is another". The importance of understanding, as a desktop operator, both the previous operations applied to page objects and the operations that will follow, cannot be stressed enough.

We have all been there before and the efficient, proficient, professional desktop operator will always stand out. VET colleges know this to be true from the requests of industry employers.

Professional tips and hints abound throughout the lesson and theory pages so spend your time wisely and learn, not just in areas that you enjoy. Colour, Halftones, Scanning, Photoshop images, theory and help tutorials. HTML page design is an extension of DTP, so comeback often and read the Web tutorial classrooms too. It is all designed to fit together.

Adobe PostScript

PS

The Adobe Postscript language allows all of our DTP images (mathematical and referenced) to be converted, using a common interpreter, and passed through to an output device suitable for visual reproduction. Therefore any computer systems, software and output devices from different manufactures can send or receive via a common Page Description Language (PDL) file - if those devices all include a PostScript interpreter.

My growing number of Unix free Perl CGI scripts are now available, and the programs became very popular around the world for down loading.

The multi optioned site counter - LogCount, very versatile VizBook - guest book style program, E-Lists, ListMerge subscribing/mailing, CopThis "tell your friends" promo, versatile ennyForms forms-to-mail-to-db, LnkinLite link-click counter, and JumpNcount dropmenu click counter have all received an excellent response.

All available via the HTML Tutorials - with more on the way. Low cost professional Unix Perl CGI Installations available too.

Over the years dtp-aus.com has tried several hosting services and after a couple of abject failures had remained with philex.net for several years. We are entrusted with FTP site access globally installing our CGI programs and believed the philex.net serious 'business' Unix setup and professional engineers to be equal to any. Wanting to use facilities of a "reseller" type hosting account for a while we sadly had to change host around 2003 (at that time philex did not offer "reselling". Very important, they have been around for many years.
